The Maryland Health Benefit Exchange is now accepting nominations for the Standing Advisory Committee (SAC). The SAC serves a consultative role and functions as an advisory group to the MHBE’s Board of Trustees.
The SAC member’s primary role is to serve as an advisory expert in his or her capacity relative to the health insurance and health care domain.
Nominations will be accepted from any person, organization or stakeholder, from any region within the state of Maryland. At this time, representation from primary care providers, rural areas and hospital administration is highly sought. Those submitting the names of nominees are encouraged to provide information about the candidate’s background and experience. Individuals also may nominate themselves.
Nominations will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the Board of Trustees, who will appoint new SAC members directly. Members will be announced in December 2015.
SAC Members shall be appointed by the Board in consultation with MHBE staff for a term of no more than 3 years, and in a manner that provides continuity and rotation. The term will begin December 2015. The SAC meets approximately 10 times each year. Meetings, which are held in or near Baltimore city, are approximately three hours long. Members are expected to attend at least half of the scheduled meetings during the year and may participate via teleconference.
