The SHOP Advisory Committee (SHAC) will provide a forum for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE) to engage with industry partners and stakeholders. The SHAC will discuss and receive technical advice on matters pertaining to operational, policy, and technical integration points between the MHBE SHOP and relevant stakeholders.
Members are representatives from groups such as issuers, SHOP Administrators, local business owners and chambers of commerce, and community advocacy organizations.
SHAC will also serve as a conduit for two work groups: a policy workgroup, and a platform workgroup.
The policy workgroup will focus primarily on examining and informing MHBE of activity pertaining to the requirements of HB1098, and the subsequent 1332 waiver application.
The platform workgroup will focus on overall integration of a SHOP platform into Maryland Health Connection, by informing operational aspects of implementation. This will include areas such as small business engagement, outreach, marketing, and technical requirements.
All committee meetings are open to the public. Each meeting concludes with a period for public comment in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. The SHOP Advisory Committee is not a policy making body.
