Five Questions to Get You Ready for Open Enrollment

Enroll starting November 1Open Enrollment starts November 1, in just 50 days!

This is your chance to enroll in a health and/or dental plan or change your current coverage for 2016. Here are five questions to get you ready:

1) What’s new?
Remember to update your information with Maryland Health Connection. If you’ve recently had a change in your household or income, tell us as soon as possible. You can do this now in your account at MarylandHealthConnection.gov or get free help.

2) Do you want to save money?
Did you know nearly 94 percent of people who enrolled through Maryland Health Connection in 2015 qualified for financial help with health coverage?

Even if you’re already enrolled, you could pay less for a plan in 2016. As plan costs and your health needs may change from year to year, shopping is a chance to find the best fit for you and your family.

3) Are you happy with your plan?
Most Marylanders who enrolled in a 2015 qualified health plan through Maryland Health Connection don’t have to do anything. You will be automatically re-enrolled into your plan (or a similar plan if it has changed) with any financial assistance you qualify for. Look for more information soon at MarylandHealthConnection.gov.

If you want a different plan for 2016, you can shop during Open Enrollment.

4) What’s important to you?
Whether you’re newly enrolling for 2016 or not sure if you want to change your current health plan, consider whether a plan covers your doctors, health services you need, and your prescription drugs.

You should also consider the monthly cost of a plan (the premium) and costs you’ll need to pay out-of-pocket, such as copayments and deductibles.

5) Can we help?
We have thousands of partners throughout Maryland who can help you understand your coverage options and make changes. Authorized insurance brokers and connector entity navigators provide free assistance.
