If you missed the Dec. 18 deadline to enroll, here are 3 things you need to know:

  1. You can still buy coverage now that starts Feb. 1. Your health coverage could start sooner if you’re eligible for Medicaid, so you should apply now.The deadline to apply for Feb. 1 coverage is Jan. 18.Open enrollment for 2015 ends Feb. 15. If you enroll between Jan. 19 and Feb. 15, your coverage starts March 1.
  2. If you had a plan through us in 2014 and didn’t reapply yet, you should reapply by Jan. 18 to get financial help with your plan (or change plans if you want) effective Feb. 1.You should create a new account and application online or get help enrolling. Read more FAQs here on renewing your plan.OK. But what happens to my plan and tax credit for January?

If you had a plan through Maryland Health Connection in 2014 and didn’t reapply by Dec. 18, your coverage will continue in your current plan for January and you will be billed for the full cost of coverage for January.

Your January bill may be higher because any financial assistance like tax credits you received in 2014 will end Dec. 31. It is important to pay this bill to keep your coverage.

Apply by Jan. 18 to get any tax credit you’re eligible for on your bills starting in February. You’ll get back any tax credit you’re owed when you file your 2015 tax return in early 2016.
